The FUTURE CLASSICS fashion label was established by London based designer Julie Wilkins in 2000, starting out as an art/fashion practice producing androgynous collections for a Japanese boutique group. After being awarded 4 consecutive seasons of New Generation sponsorship, the label grew an international clientele and achieved acclaim for its cleverly constructed and playfully conceptual jersey pieces. The label moved on to incorporate fully fashioned knitwear, soft and traditional tailoring and a dress line, with the aim of creating a mainframe of intelligent clothing where the dialogue between the traditional and the modern, the avant-garde and the conservative, are played out. A major part of the FUTURE CLASSICS ethos was the studied deconstruction of conventional garment forms and the magnifying of the details of their make. Adaptability and multiple idiosyncratic possibilities of wear were also key features. The label produced collections until 2014.
In early 2016 Julie launched DRESS, a multi-displinary non-seasonal label/practice using limited edition capsule collections of garments, words, images (moving & still) and music to explore project based themes through polymath means. Julie also records and releases music as The Electra Woods.
